El Alentómetro of Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola boosted their Copa America sponsorship with a remarkable innovative concept:
El Alentómetro; or something like ‘the cheer-o-meter’ as you could say in English.

It is a giant screen where fans could watch a game of the Argentinean football team… only possible if they make enough noise to keep the image on the screen! The cheering worked greatly for Coke but not good enough for Argentina to go through the quarterfinals and lost against Uruguay.

I belive the idea is really good based on a great insight, but Latin football fans are already well known for their noisy support. So I believe the concept will work even better in our European countries. No need to go bananas only in the final stages, it would be great to start the cheering up as of the first game :D

The power of Online Videos

It is no news for us that the media mix, around a product, has drastically change over the last few years with social media being at the center of most Global Brands. However there is this kid on the block that drags more and more attention:

Video content. Some leading brands are already doing 60 Million online views per quarter. And according to Eric Schmidt (Google) the global display and online video spend will be $200 Billion by 2020.

We see more and more Brands launching online video campaign in parallel of regular campaigns. With a format that all of us love to stumble upon, it spreads around the globe at the speed of light, reaching and engaging millions of people at very low costs per contact (Earned media) of course I am talking about: Viral and Social Videos.

Just take a look at the dazzling numbers in the video under

7 billion and Counting ....

From what I hear The U.N. declared that today symbolically marks the moment when the world's population reaches the bar of 7 billion saouls. A little more than two hundred years ago, the global population was "only" 1 billion. How did it grow so big so fast?

With the help of a sound montage and video, it gets a bit easier to see how the Earth can produce that kind of a crowd. Thank you NPR, for this nice and easy illustration.

The Evolution of the blogger, what about you?

A pretty straight forward graphic, I tend to agree mostly with it so you might ask what is the big lesson here?
Well where people go, corporate organisations and public figures follow.

As a corporation you might ask yourself when will you set-up your corporate blog to save on customer service and provide all your stakeholders with the info they need in a way that is easy for them to connect? Are you ready to evolve?

Take a step back and think of all channels where consumers go, lets just say: Facebook and then think of how companies, public figures, ... react > Facebook Fan pages. In simple other words it is evolution, so are you ready to move with the market or go to extinction? Please there is no use denying it, as it is happening; set your brand and business objectives, allocate budgets, determine success KPI’s, get your content/community managers ready, amp up to listen to your consumers, mobilise your customer service and as cliché as it might sound enter the human arena to connect once again with your consumers, followers, fans, family and all the others!

Foursquaropoly

Remember those long nights next to the fireplace playing Monopoly. Now remember these fights you have to grab the mayorship on Foursquare? Now combine both and you'll have Foursquaropoly.

Developed by Sean Tiraratanakul, Deanna McDonald and Jaclyn Shelton, Foursquaropoly takes location-based check-ins/information from Foursquare and gives players the ability to buy and sell properties as well as collect rent from other people who check into their properties just like the real monopoly. If you ask me it sounds like a great way to make Foursquare even more addictive and give it a greater longivity.

3,000 bottle caps come alive at night

Did you ever wonder what a massive billboard with 3,000 Newcastle Brown Ale bottle caps and a single light source might look like. Thanks to the ad agency Vitro and artists Ellis Gallagher and Pablo Power, your wish has been granted. Shadows cast by the meticulously bent, stacked and arranged caps form a creepy/cool face and a ghostly arm reaching for a glass of the brew.

This impressive piece, designed to illustrate the duality of the beer's dark color and light taste (the "lighter side of dark," as the headline), is one of three branded art projects that Newcastle unveiled in San Diego this summer.

Marco Tempest: The magic of truth and lies

It has been quite some time I did not write a post, this because I tweeted and posted Facebooked  a bit too much. So I didn't have time to write a proper blog post. After viewing quite some videos, none really struck me as super Wow.

Until this weekend ... I am a great fan of the different TED talks. Talks that tell a story or a fable are to me the most inetersting ones. Without further due I offer you this new Talk:

"Using three iPods like magical props, Marco Tempest (a little bit more about him here) spins a clever, surprisingly heartfelt meditation on truth and lies, art and emotion."

So allow yourself to be deceived, lie to yourself for a bit, and you'll be open to enjoy it.

Play snake in any Youtube videos!

Well today I'll not write about something funny or about marketing, but rather about a nice time waster/feature present in all youtube videos. Do you remember the game snake that you had on your first Nokia mobile? Well personally I was completely addicted to that game. I remember taking my dad's phone, yes at that time a 14 years didn't have any mobile yet, and just playing until my fingers hurt.

Well now I discovered the same choice while waiting for a youtube video to load. Just choose any videos, while you see the little circle of loading appear in the middle of the video:

Just click on any of the arrows from your key board and you are set to start a game of Snake.

Enjoy, www.youtube.com

Intel: The Museum of Me

Well it has been a long time since I did not write a post, this was due to lack of time and as well I did not see a campaign or video with waouw effect!

However this morning I found my waouw campaign, did you ever wonder what a museum about your social you would look like? (click on any images to check it out)

Well now your patience paid off, and Intel made your wild idea come true. The Museum of Me is a facebook app hosted on a website, it compiles all your Facebook information and creates a 3 minutes expose about you.

Yes, it's a shameless promotion for Intel's Core i5 processors, but seeing your information online as a museum is unnerving, yet fascinating. Only down side you have to be a Facebook user and allow the application to allow you data (Kind of logical)

Groupon: Launches Groupon Now

Well everybody knows already the Giant of the social discount Groupon. With the social discount market getting crowded days after days we might have thought that the brand that have been offered multi billions $ by Google would never stay as profitable as it is today.

We better think twice about that, Monday the brand announced the launch of their new platform:
Groupon Now

Here's how it works for the consumer

1- Check out Groupon Now! on the web or on your mobile device.
2 - Enter your location and choose the type of deal you'd like to see.
3 - Buy the deal that's right for you and present your Groupon to the merchant within the specified time.

The Business model is as well really interesting for the Merchant, who can decide on putting offers live when they please. You are a restaurant manager and your restaurant has some empty tables, well you can launch an offer for a period of X hours, ...

Here is the video on how this really cool and breakthrough works.

PepsiCo Social Vending Machine

Friends Week continues, yesterday I posted a video with the Coca-Cola Friendship Machine. Well this morning I red in my Twitter feed an article from Mashable about a new PepsiCo Social vending Machine.

This new machine invites users to send free soda to their friends. To do so, users select a beverage and enter the recipient’s name, mobile number and personalized text message with a code redeemable at another vending machine. There is as well the possibility to make it even more personal by recording a short video with the machine.

Although this machine is awesome, the lack of Facebook or Twitter tie-ins/connect is an unbelievable omission. But I strongly believe, considering the experiment with Facebook-enabled objects, a vending machine tie-in with the social network seems imminent.

The Coca-Cola Friendship Machine

Very sweet new viral (or not so viral) video from Coca-Cola:

What if you can climb up a huge Coke machine and get 2 coke bottles for the price of one? Well I guess this is the type of promo that only Friendship can make possible.

Enjoy and Smile

The Stars of Facebook

This super awesome video summarizes the Facebook Landscape of personalities. I think it can be taken as a reference for what type of Facebook friends you have, although what is missing: the Quote, you know that guy that just post awesome quotes and you are just like what the hell is talking about? On that note Abraham Lincoln said:

"The trouble with quotes on the Internet is that you never know if they are genuine"

Wonderbra vs the Nipplegate

Wonderbra goes to war against the Nipplegate (Nipplegate?)!!!

To tell you the truth I don't think it is the most Waouw activation appearing on Internet today. However I believe it deserved to be spoken of, because it is a clever way to put forward the benefits of a product, it is always fun to see ladies jumping on a trompoline, it solves a burning issue of our modern society and most important of all we'll normally never see again the nipple of Janet Jackson.

Escape Machine - Surprise

I guess you guys remember this post where some SNCF passenger got an outstanding welcome at the train station. Well now  DDB Paris created this simple, fun “Escape Machine” experience for the French travel company Voyages SNCF.

Menacing, glowing black cubes wait till someone goes close enough. Then the cube asks where the person would like to travel. Pushing the red button produces a crazy celebration, complete with gigantic walking kisses, and provides the wishers large, customized m
ock tickets to their destination. Watching the faces of the onlookers is just as much fun as the experience itself!

Nike BetterWorld

To build ont their BetterWorld concept (CSR website of Nike), Nike recycles its most famous ads and put them all together to give us a great 120" edit that will give you chills. If you followed the Nike ads over the years, well you'll be filled with joy and nostalgia.

Coca-Cola Music - Walls

I might be a little bit late but this morning I stumbled upon this very sweet ad for Coca-Cola Music. The ad is named "Walls" and revolves around a common thing to all teenagers: Singing when you are alone in your bedroom or bathroom. Now just put everything together and you get this happy and refreshing ad.

The creative concept has been developped by Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, post production done by the hot shots of The Mill and the music is from One night only.

Enjoy the happiness

Adidas new commercial - Adidas is all in

It is one of the biggest marketing campaign ever done by Adidas. They changed their 2004 "Impossible is nothing" tag line to replace it with « adidas is all in ». 30% of the budget will go for the web, a first for the German brand, the ad was directed by Romain Gavras and we can see many of the brand embassadors such as: Lionel Messi, David Beckham, Derrick Rose, Katy Perry and many others.

The music is signed by the French duo Justice with their new title « Civilization », I strongly believe this campaign is truely awesome.

Right under you'll find the 120" version exclusively for the internet and right below it is the 60"  version for television and there will be as well a 30" cut. The Agency behind that great work is Sid Lee a Canadian Agency based in Montréal

Is Motorola taking a shot at Apple?

As you all saw in my previous post, yes all the superbowl ads are available for your viewing online. After strolling through the 60ish of them, one caught my attention, not by its beauty or its product more about the vizualisation of its message.

Is Motorola taking a shot at Apple? Well yes of course, Motorola is launching its tablet that will try to hurt the "Monopoly" of the I-Pad. However we do not see a large hammer squashing some good old I-pads, the message is more subtle. In the world where everyone is dressed in white and hooked up with white headphones, do you get it or am I the only one?

There is one man that stands out from this world full of MacBooks... He is not a sheep, he is different, he is much more cooler, he has his eyes open, he stands out of the crowd and is willing to show the one he loves that there is something else than the Apple "monopoly of Cool".
