El Alentómetro of Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola boosted their Copa America sponsorship with a remarkable innovative concept:
El Alentómetro; or something like ‘the cheer-o-meter’ as you could say in English.

It is a giant screen where fans could watch a game of the Argentinean football team… only possible if they make enough noise to keep the image on the screen! The cheering worked greatly for Coke but not good enough for Argentina to go through the quarterfinals and lost against Uruguay.

I belive the idea is really good based on a great insight, but Latin football fans are already well known for their noisy support. So I believe the concept will work even better in our European countries. No need to go bananas only in the final stages, it would be great to start the cheering up as of the first game :D

The power of Online Videos

It is no news for us that the media mix, around a product, has drastically change over the last few years with social media being at the center of most Global Brands. However there is this kid on the block that drags more and more attention:

Video content. Some leading brands are already doing 60 Million online views per quarter. And according to Eric Schmidt (Google) the global display and online video spend will be $200 Billion by 2020.

We see more and more Brands launching online video campaign in parallel of regular campaigns. With a format that all of us love to stumble upon, it spreads around the globe at the speed of light, reaching and engaging millions of people at very low costs per contact (Earned media) of course I am talking about: Viral and Social Videos.

Just take a look at the dazzling numbers in the video under

7 billion and Counting ....

From what I hear The U.N. declared that today symbolically marks the moment when the world's population reaches the bar of 7 billion saouls. A little more than two hundred years ago, the global population was "only" 1 billion. How did it grow so big so fast?

With the help of a sound montage and video, it gets a bit easier to see how the Earth can produce that kind of a crowd. Thank you NPR, for this nice and easy illustration.
